Single needle construction produces a less noticeable seam on the exterior of the garment, in addition to a smoother and more durable seam on the interior. In addition to the single needle stitching, details such as a gusseted side seam, once common on shirting but now noticeably absent, add strength to an otherwise overlooked stress point.
